The idea behind Thrifty-Scout started as a way to help minimize the financial impact of Scouting while providing an enjoyable and safe experience. Thrifty-Scout is not affiliated with any Scouting program or organization, but is the result of my real world experience as both a Scout leader and parent. The opinions expressed are my own and are the advice I share with new Scout families. Finally, one of the basic ideas of (Boy) Scouting comes from the Founder of Scouting - Robert Baden-Powell - "Never do anything for a boy he can do for himself". While Thrifty-Scout is written with parents and guardians in mind. It is important that your Scout begin to accept at least some of the financial impact of Scouting.
